The London Agreement comes into force on 1 May 2008. This will significantly reduce the post-grant translation cost of European patent in a number of EPC Contracting States and make patenting in Europe less expensive. read more

On 5 April 2005, the Government of the Republic of Latvia deposited its instrument of accession to the European Patent Convention and to the Act revising the European Patent Convention of 29 November 2000. The European Patent Convention took effect in Latvia on 1 July 2005. read more

The Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia informed that now, it will accept the lists of services containing wordings “retail services” and “wholesale services”. The Office, however recommended using of more specific wordings in lists of goods. For example, it is recommended to use such wording, as “retail services of a department store in the field of food commodities and household commodities”, rather then general wording “retail services”. read more

The Parliament of Lithuania has adopted the amendments to Lithuania’s Patent Law in order to prolong the term of patent protection. The mentioned amendments related supplementary protection of the inventions concerning the active substances of medicine and plant protection means (Article 27.1 of the Patent Law) come into force on 1 January 2002. read more
